The brig Lady Washington, the official tall ship ambassador of Washington state, will visit Redondo Beach for the first time since 1994. The 112-foot wooden vessel is scheduled to arrive Thursday, November 23 at the Redondo Beach Marina, 181 North Harbor Drive, Redondo Beach, and stay through Wednesday, November 30. During this year’s visit, Lady Washington will open for public tours, three-hour sailing excursions, and educational programs for K-12 students.

On November 26 and 27, Lady Washington will take guests on family-oriented Adventure Sail cruises, which feature hands-on activities, such as helping the crew raise a sail and taking the tiller of a real tall ship, conditions permitting. Tickets are $35 each. The three-hour excursions start at 2 p.m. each day. Purchase tickets online at www.historicalseaport.org or call 800-200-5239.

The ship offers hands-on, living history education programs to tens of thousands of school children a year. Lady Washington has also appeared in several movies, including the 1994 Star Trek: Generations and the 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. This year, the organization that owns and operates the ship, the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority of Aberdeen, Wash., is marking its 25th birthday
