Mira Costa Volleyball Team Sweeps Redondo Union

The Sea Hawks taken down by the top boys volleyball team in the state.

The Redondo Union boys volleyball team has fared well on the road this season, but on Tuesday took a short trip to Mira Costa with predictable results. The Sea Hawks were swept for the second time this season by the No. 1 ranked team in the state, losing 25-14, 25-10 and 25-21.

"I think the reality is we just played a better team," Coach Dalton Avery said of the Mustangs. "I said it before the season started that Costa is head and shoulders better than every team in the league. They're a senior heavy team with a lot of experience."

Redondo Union did play better as the match went on, passing the ball more effectively.

"The fact that we played as well as we did in game 3 was nice. It shows that we're here and we're not going to give up." Avery said. ''I think the most promising thing is that we're a young bunch of guys."
