Surf Report: Decent Dose of Energy

New columnist Jeff Malanca kicks off his daily surf report.

Good Monday morning, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Redondo Beach Patch surf report.

Well, we're seeing a decent dose of energy out there, but unfortunately there's already some texture or bump on the water early on.

As far as the surf goes, there's a mixture of mainly modest west-northwest and northwest windswell, as well as just a little residual south southwest energy.

That texture is providing this stretch of sand with some crumbly and dumpy textured lines, with a few scattered shoulders to pick off. Most spots in the Redondo area are seeing knee- to chest-high waves, with the standout combo breaks pulling a few larger sets.

Checking the tides—at 8:58 this morning it drops to a 0.1 low, which will leave some spots needing water and seeming a little inconsistent throughout mid-morning.  The tide then climbs back up to a 3.6 high at 4:22 this afternoon.

If you're going to get wet, then you'll want to wear at least a 3/2 fullsuit, with the water temperature hanging between 58 and 61 degrees. Good luck out there!
