Surf Report: Playful Waves Abound

Low tide: 0.3 feet, 9:20 a.m. High tide: 4.4 feet, 4:22 p.m. Water temperature: 57-58 degrees.

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Redondo Beach Patch surf report. We're seeing a fun-sized mix of energy out there,  so if you've got a little time between appointments, then go get wet!

The water is starting off fairly clean, with some spots seeing some texture on the surface. There's a continued combination of mainly southwest swell and some minor lingering west-northwest windswell in the background.

That recipe is providing this neck of the woods with some racy and sort of crumbly, sectiony lines, with a few steep corners to grab.  Most Redondo Beach spots are seeing knee- to stomach-high waves, with the breaks that pick up the most combo action pulling a few plus sets.

At 9:20 a.m., the tide drops to a 0.3-foot low, which will have some spots a bit drained out and a little inconsistent during the mid-morning hours. The tide then climbs back up to a 4.4-foot high at 4:22 p.m.

If you're planning on paddling, you'll want to throw on at least a 3/2 mm full suit, with the water temperature still on the cool side, hanging between 57 and 58 degrees. Have fun out there!!
