Friday Rains to Give Way to Saturday Sun

The sun is expected to reappear by Saturday afternoon.

Nearly a half-inch of rain fell on the South Bay on Friday.

Rainfall totals included .44 of an inch in Redondo Beach, .41 in Long Beach, .31 at Los Angeles International Airport and .25 in Hawthorne, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain fell hardest on Santa Catalina Island, where .81 of an inch was reported at inland Avalon, the NWS reported.

Authorities reported no major rain-related incidents.

It will be partly cloudy Saturday morning from the coast to downtown Los Angeles, then it will be sunny, according to the NWS. Highs will be 77 in downtown Los Angeles, 73 at Los Angeles International Airport and 78 in Long Beach.
