The Engineering and Building Services Department consists of the Engineering Division and the Building & SafetyMore Division. The Engineering Division works closely with the Public Works Department to maintain the City's infrastructure, such as storm drains for redirecting storm water, sewer lines for carrying wastewater to treatment plants, and the streets, alleys, and pavements which make up the traffic system. The Building & Safety Division is in charge of the health and safety of the residents and visitors of Redondo Beach.

The Public Works Department takes care of the maintenance, construction and operations of the public facilities andMore programs for the residents of Redondo Beach.</p> <p>Its services include: street maintenance, traffic signals, building maintenance, electrical services, fleet services, pier and harbor maintenance, sewer and storm drain maintenance, solid waste and recycling, parks and community facility maintenance, parkways, medians, and greenbelt maintenance, school district sports fields maintenance, parks playground equipment maintenance and administration of the tree trimming/pruning program for approximately 11,000 trees in the City.</p> <p>Participate in their <a href="http://www.redondo.org/depts/public_works/questionnaire.asp">survey </a>to help the Department imporve its services at the public facilities.</p> <p>The Public Works commission meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.</p>

The City Manager's Office works with all of the city departments to ensure responsible fiscal management, continuousMore organizational development and process improvement, and appropriate organizational response to current events. The Office's numerous responsibilities include: overseeing the strategic plan, city budget, capital improvement and performance measurement programs; monitoring federal and state legislative activities and providing policy recommendations to Council; overseeing cable television franchise and coordinating telecommunications facilities agreements; and implementing the E-government Strategic Plan to insure rapid and efficient deployment of online government services.</p> <p>City Manager Bill Workman has served Redondo Beach since 2005. He has worked in the public management field for over 30 years and demonstrated his exceptional expertise in pubic finance & building, organizational development, environmental protection, economic development and strategic planning.</p>
