Paddle-Out to Honor Bob Meistrell Scheduled for September

Body Glove co-founder Bob Meistrell died in mid-June. He was 84.

A paddle-out and celebration in memory of Body Glove co-founder Bob Meistrell, who died June 16 of a heart attack on Catalina Island, is scheduled for Sept. 15, according to his son Randy Meistrell.

Bob Meistrell, a resident of the Hollywood Riviera, was 84.

With his twin brother Bill Meistrell, who passed away at the age of 77 after a battle with Parkinson's, he designed, manufactured and sold the first commercially viable neoprene wetsuits, according to Body Glove President Russ Lesser. The twins also owned Dive N Surf in Redondo Beach.

The paddle-out will take place on the south side of the Redondo Beach Pier in front of Veterans Park in South Redondo Beach.

"Following the paddle out, come to the Seaside Lagoon to talk stories of my Dad, enjoy a Carl's Jr. burger or a taco," Randy Meistrell wrote on Facebook. "Thank (you) all again for all the support, prayer and thoughts."
