Fire Guts Garage in North Redondo

More than two dozen firefighters from four different agencies responded to the blaze.

A fire gutted a garage, damaged the attached house and scorched an adjacent home in the 1900 block of Speyer Lane on Monday night, according to Redondo Beach Fire Chief Robert Metzger.

The Redondo Beach Fire Department received the call at about 5:45 p.m., according to Metzger. The blaze started in the garage before moving into the attached house. The adjacent home sustained no interior damage.

"The garage was completely destroyed," Metzger told Patch. "(The fire) damaged three additional vehicles."

He said two of the vehicles were "destroyed," while a third sustained serious damage.

More than two dozen firefighters from the Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Torrance fire departments responded to the blaze, Metzger said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation; however, investigators don't believe it was electrical, Metzger said. The fire may have been accidental.

An estimate of the cost of the damages was not yet available as of Tuesday night, he said.
