Man Suspected of Having Sex with Redondo Beach Teen

A 27-year-old Harbor City man and registered sex offender is in custody again today, awaiting charges that he had sex with a 15-year-old in Redondo Beach.

It is the second time Hugo Gonzalez is facing similar charges. In 2011, he was convicted of having sex with a 14-year-old Palos Verdes Estates girl he met on Myspace.

Likewise, Redondo Beach police allege Gonzalez recently met two local girls online, this time on MeetMe.com. He also used the KIK smartphone instant-messaging app to converse with them, according to a Redondo Beach Police Department press release.

“Gonzalez eventually met with the minors, provided alcohol to them, and had sex with one of the minors,” said Sgt. Shawn Freeman. Both girls are from Redondo.

Redondo Beach police made the arrest April 9. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has filed seven felony counts against Gonzalez and two misdemeanor counts of furnishing alcohol to minors, officials said.  

Gonzalez is remains in custody at a Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $245,000 bail.
